In the 1960s, 500 people lived on Koh Tan, but as wages rose on neighboring Koh Samui, most residents migrated there. Schools and health centers are closed and most homes are empty. Today, about 50 people live on the island. The island can only be reached by boat from the fishing village of Thong Krut on the south coast of Koh Samui. Other places on Koh Tan take longer.
Koh Madsum is a small island in the Koh Samui archipelago which consists of about 69 islands. Just a few minutes by boat from the south coast of Koh Samui. The island is a paradise with beautiful beaches and cute pigs. Pigs swam across the sea from the neighboring Island Koh Taen to Madum Island. The island is a great day trip off the beaten track from Koh Samui.

Very well organized tour. Excellent lunch. Koh Mudsom was too crowded for my personal taste. The pigs loved it for all the food.
